The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
