The Thamud tribe denied the Noble Messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 143 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 144 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 Within gardens and springs 147 And tilled fields and heavy-sheathed palm-trees, 148 And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill. 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 those who spread corruption on earth instead of setting things to rights!" 152 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!" 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed. 155 and do her no harm, lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 156 They slew the she-camel, but later became regretful 157 and the punishment seized them. Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 158 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
