Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 Woe to the liars 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
