The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
