Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And [by] ten nights 2 by the even, and the odd, 3 and by the night when it moves on towards daybreak (reward and retribution in the next life is an absolute reality). 4 Is there not an evidence in this for those who have sense? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad - 6 Iram of the pillars, 7 The like of which were not produced in (all) the land? 8 And Thamood, who hewed out the rocks of the valley? 9 and with Pharaoh of the stakes? 10 [All of] whom oppressed within the lands 11 and worked much corruption therein? 12 Then their Lord unloosed upon them the lash of chastisement. 13 Indeed, your Lord is in observation. 14 And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me." 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 No. In fact you are not generous to the orphans, 17 Nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 and greedily devour the entire inheritance, 19 and you love wealth with an ardent love 20 Most certainly – when the earth is smashed and blown to bits. 21 and [the majesty of] thy Sustainer stands revealed, as well as [the true nature of] the angels; rank upon rank? 22 And on that Day hell will be brought [within sight]; on that Day man will remember [all that he did and failed to do]: but what will that remembrance avail him? 23 He shall say, 'O would that I had forwarded for my life!' 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers]. 26 [But unto the righteous God will say,] "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace! 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], 28 "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, 29 "And enter you My Paradise!" 30
