He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
