The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
