Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of the men of old hath gone (before them). 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 He it is who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has provided for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, so that you might follow the right path. 10 And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure. Then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the dead), 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 And to our Lord we shall surely return." 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
