And when Abraham said unto his father and his folk: Lo! I am innocent of what ye worship 26 Other than Him who created me. He will show me the right way." 27 And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it]. 28 Yes, I gave the good things of this life to these [men] and their fathers, until the truth came to them, and a messenger expounding things clearly, 29 Yet when the truth had come to them, they said: "This is sorcery. We shall never believe in it." 30 Then they said, "Why this Quran had not been revealed to a man from either of the two great towns". 31 Will they distribute the mercy of your Lord? We distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and We j have exalted some of them above others in degrees, that some of them may take others in subjection; and the mercy of your Lord is better than what they amass. 32 If it were not that mankind would be one nation We would have made for whosoever disbelieves in the Merciful silver roofs upon their houses, and stairs to climb, 33 And for their houses, doors (of silver), and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline, 34 And ornament of gold. And yet all that would have been but a provision of the life of the world; and the Hereafter with thy Lord is for the Godfearing. 35
