The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount; 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 By the House Frequented. 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
