The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Who will be honoured 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
