Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? 30 And We set in the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with them, and We set in it ravines to serve as ways, that haply so they may be guided; 31 And We have made the heaven a guarded canopy and (yet) they turn aside from its signs. 32 It is He who created the night and the day, the sun and the moon, each swimming in a sky. 33 And before you, We did not appoint on earth a never-ending life for any human; will they, if you depart, become immortal? 34 Every soul shall taste death; We test you with both good and evil [circumstances] as a trial. To Us you shall return. 35 And when those who disbelieve see you, [O Muhammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one who insults your gods?" And they are, at the mention of the Most Merciful, disbelievers. 36 Man is a creature of haste: soon (enough) will I show you My Signs; then ye will not ask Me to hasten them! 37 And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 38 If only the disbelievers realised the time when they will not be able to stop the fire from their faces and from their backs – and nor are they to be helped. 39 It will overtake them suddenly, dumbfounding them. They shall be unable to ward it off, and they shall not be respited. 40 And certainly apostles before you were scoffed at, then there befell those of them who scoffed that at which they had scoffed. 41
