He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 So you are after him! 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 These verses are a reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and pastures 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
