The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
