Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
