The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
