Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim 1 By the Clear Book. 2 that We have revealed the Quran on a blessed night to warn mankind. 3 Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments. 4 As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending - 5 A mercy from your Lord. Verily He is all-hearing and all-knowing, 6 Lord of the heavens and earth, and all that between them is if you have faith. 7 There is no god except He. He revives and causes to die. (He is) your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients. 8 Nay! They play in doubt. 9 Wait, then, for the Day when the sky brings forth plainly visible clouds of smoke. 10 Which would envelope mankind. That would be a grievous affliction. 11 (Then they will say): Our Lord relieve us of the torment. Lo! we are believers. 12 But how will they take heed? Such are they that a Messenger came to them clearly expounding the Truth, 13 yet they turned away from him and said: “This is a well-tutored madman.” 14 We now remove the punishment for some days – so you will again commit the same. 15 on the Day when We shall seize [all sinners] with a most mighty onslaught, We shall, verily, inflict Our retribution [on you as well]! 16 ۞ And indeed We tried before them Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, when there came to them a noble Messenger [i.e. Musa (Moses)], 17 (and said): “Deliver to me Allah's servants. I am a trustworthy Messenger to you, 18 "And exalt not (yourselves) against Allah. Truly, I have come to you with a manifest authority. 19 And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me. 20 But if you do not believe me, then leave me alone." 21 And he called to his Lord, saying, 'These are a sinful people.' 22 [Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued. 23 And leave thou the sea divided: verily they are a host to be drowned. 24 How much they left behind of gardens and springs 25 And fields and stately mansions, 26 And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight! 27 Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)! 28 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they respited; 29
