The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it descends, 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The heart did not deny, what it saw. (The Holy Prophet was bestowed with seeing Allah – see also preceding verses 8, 9, 10.) 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
