Thamood, too, belied Our warnings. 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 The people of Lot denied the warning. 33 We sent down upon them a violent sandstorm (which destroyed them all) except for the family of Lot, whom We saved in the early morning by Our favor. 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 They even solicited of him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes: 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 37 And assuredly there met them early in the morning a torment settled. 38 Now taste My punishment after My warnings! 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
