The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Someone has (needlessly) demanded to experience the torment (of God), 1 Upon the infidels -- which none would be able to repel -- 2 From Allah, the Lord of the ways of ascent. 3 all the angels and all the inspiration [ever granted to man] ascend unto Him [daily,] in a day the length whereof is [like] fifty thousand years… 4 Therefore, [O believer,] endure all adversity with goodly patience: 5 Surely they think it to be far off, 6 But We see it (quite) near. 7 [It will take place] on a Day when the sky will be like molten lead, 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 though they may be in one another's sight: [for,] everyone who was lost in sin will on that Day but desire to ransom himself from suffering at the price of his own children, 11 And his wife and his brother 12 And his kin that harboured him 13 and whosoever is in the earth, altogether, so that it might save him. 14 But nay! for lo! it is the fire of hell 15 Taking away (burning completely) the head skin! 16 and it shall call him who withdrew and turned his back 17 And masseth and then hoardeth. 18 ۞ Indeed, the human was created grudging and impatient. 19 [As a rule,] whenever misfortune touches him, he is filled with self-pity; 20 And refraining, when good reaches him. 21 Except those devoted to Salat (prayers) 22 and are constant in their Prayer; 23 And those in whose riches is a known right. 24 for the impoverished nonrequester and the requester, 25 And those who believe the Day of Judgement to be true. 26 and who stand in dread of their Sustainer's chastisement 27 Surely no one can be secure from the punishment of his Lord, -- 28 And those who preserve their chastity 29 Are free of blame, 30 But those who trespass beyond this are transgressors;- 31 and those who fulfil their trusts and their covenants, 32 and perform their witnessings, 33 And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer: 34 all these shall live honourably in the Gardens. 35

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
