Al-Insan 2 of 2
(Muhammad), We have revealed the Quran to you in gradual steps. 23 Wherefore persevere thou with the commandment of thy Lord, and obey not thou of them, any sinner or ingrate. 24 Mention the Name of your Lord, mornings and evenings. 25 And bow in homage part of the night, and glorify Him far into the night. 26 Lo! these love fleeting life, and put behind them (the remembrance of) a grievous day. 27 We created them and made firm their make, and when We please We will bring in their place the likes of them by a change. 28 Indeed, this is a reminder, so he who wills may take to his Lord a way. 29 But you will not desire except as God wills. Verily He is all-knowing and all-wise. 30 He admits to His mercy whomever He wants. For the unjust He has prepared a painful punishment. 31
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
