The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
