We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all for nothing. Only those who deny imagine so. So for the unbelievers there is woe from the fire. 27 Shall We treat those who believe and do good works as those who spread corruption in the earth; or shall We treat the pious as the wicked? 28 (This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, full of blessing, that they may ponder its revelations, and that men of understanding may reflect. 29 And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah). 30 When fast footed steeds were presented to him at evening. 31 he said: “Lo! I have come to love this wealth on account of the remembrance of my Lord.” And when the horses disappeared, 32 (he ordered): “Bring these horses back to me,” and then he began to gently stroke their shanks and necks. 33 And, indeed We did try Sulaiman (Solomon) and We placed on his throne Jasadan (a devil, so he lost his kingdom for a while) but he did return (to his throne and kingdom by the Grace of Allah and he did return) to Allah with obedience and in repentance. 34 He prayed, "Lord forgive me! Grant me such power as no one after me will have -- You are the Most Generous Provider." 35 So We subjected to him the wind, that ran at his commandment, softly, wherever he might light on, 36 And We subjected to him the evil ones: every builder and diver. 37 and others chained in fetters. 38 This is Our gift, so bestow thou or withhold, without rendering an account. 39 And verily, nearness to Us awaits him [in the life to come,] and the most beauteous of all goals! 40
