The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
