Noah had called upon Us (earlier). See, how excellent We were in answering him! 75 And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning), 76 And his offspring! them We made the survivors. 77 And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: 78 "Peace be upon Noah throughout all the worlds!" 79 Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 80 For he was one of our believing Servants. 81 Afterwards We drowned the others. 82 ۞ And indeed Ibrahim is from his (Nooh’s) group. 83 he came to his Lord with a sound heart. 84 and [thus] spoke to his father and his people: "What is it that you worship? 85 Do you want [to bow down before] a lie - [before] deities other than God? 86 What think you then of the Lord of all Being?' 87 Then he looked up at the stars (they worshipped), 88 And he said: verily I am about to be sick. 89 So they turned away from him, and departed. 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said, 'What do you eat? 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak?" 92 Then he turned against them secretly, smiting them with the right hand. 93 So the people descended upon him. 94 Abraham said to them: “Do you worship what you yourselves have carved with your own hands 95 Whereas Allah hath created you and that which ye make? 96 They replied: 'Build for him a building and cast him into the fire' 97 They had contrived an evil plan against him, but We abased them all. 98 And he said: Lo! I am going unto my Lord Who will guide me. 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son." 100 And We gave him the glad tidings of a very gentle son (Ishmael). 101 When he was old enough to go about with him, he said: "O my son, I dreamt that I was sacrificing you. Consider, what you think?" He replied: "Father, do as you are commanded. If God pleases you will find me firm." 102 When both surrendered (to Allah's command) and Abraham flung the son down on his forehead, 103 We cried unto him: O Ibrahim 104 thou hast already fulfilled [the purpose of] that dream-vision!" Thus, verily, do We reward the doers of good: 105 that surely was a manifest trial, 106 And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice: 107 And We perpetuated (praise) to him among the later generations. 108 "Peace be upon Abraham!" 109 This is how We reward the virtuous. 110 He was one of Our believing worshipers. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaq, a Herald of the Hidden, from among those who deserve Our proximity. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves. 113
