Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your deeds; yet He forgives much. 30 You cannot challenge God on earth and you will have no one besides Him as your guardian or helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas: 32 and if He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its back. Surely in that are signs for every man enduring, thankful. 33 Or He could wreck them for what they have done; yet there is much that He pardons. 34 And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape. 35 Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord: 36 who refrain from heinous sins and gross indecencies; who forgive when they are angry; 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 and when harmed they become victorious. 39 The guerdon of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereof. But whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his wage is the affair of Allah. Lo! He loveth not wrong-doers. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 Blame attaches only to those who subject people to wrong and commit excesses on earth. A painful chastisement awaits them. 42 whoever is patient and forgiving, acts with great courage and resolution. 43
