Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in a lofty garden, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
