The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
