The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. Those are the signs of the Book and of a manifest Koran. 1 Soon will the time come when the unbelievers will wish they were Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know. 3 And We have not destroyed a town but there was therefor a decree known. 4 and no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 5 They say: "O you to whom the Admonition has been revealed, you are surely crazed. 6 "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" 7 We do not send down the angels (in frivolity); and when We do send them down, We do so with Truth; then people are granted no respite. 8 Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian. 9 Indeed, We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad SAW) amongst the sects (communities) of old. 10 And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. 11 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty: 12 They would not believe in it (the Quran), and already the example of (Allah's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth. 13 If We opened a gate in the heaven and they kept ascending through it, 14 still they would say: 'Our eyes were dazzled; truly, we must have been a bewitched people' 15
