The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
