Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
