We shall attach to him who goes blind to the remembrance of Ar-Rahman a devil as companion, -- 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 till, when he comes to Us, he says, 'Would there had been between me and thee the distance of the two Easts!' An evil comrade! 38 On that Day it will not profit you in the least [to know] that, since you have sinned [together,] you are now to share your suffering [as well]. 39 Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error? 40 And if We take thee away, We surely shall take vengeance on them, 41 Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them. 42 Therefore hold fast to that which has been revealed to you; surely you are on the right path. 43 The (Qur'an) is indeed the message, for thee and for thy people; and soon shall ye (all) be brought to account. 44 Yet [above all else,] ask any of Our apostles whom We sent forth before thy time whether We have ever allowed that deities other than the Most Gracious be worshipped! 45
