Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in an exalted garden 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
