Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and couches raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
