Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
