The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 And indeed failed is the one who covered it in sin. 10 The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 He does not fear the consequence. 15
