The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
