The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 For a mighty day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 On thrones, watching. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
