The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
