And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you call?" 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me." 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 "And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised." 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 "Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound intact or unblemished heart." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 no caring friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
