The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 This has been happening all along. 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
