The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
