Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
