Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
