The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!" 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 Then We delivered him and all his family 170 save an old woman among those that tarried; 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 175
