۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 They can only return to hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
