The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners. 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 Indeed We sent upon them a single Scream – thereupon they became like the barrier builder’s residual dry trampled hay. 31 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 They lusted after his guests, so We put out their eyes (and said): "Taste My punishment and My commination." 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
