The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
