These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.) 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 And our forefathers [as well]?" 48 Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 and shall drink boiling water on top of that. 54 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Wherefore hallow thou the name of thy Lord, the Mighty. 74
