The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
